San Antonio Animal Hospital

I have a new Puppy, The staff and Vet at SanAntonio Animal Hospital are excellent! They take the time to explain what they are doing, each step of the way and why its important. Facility is clean and does not smell like animals. Overall ten out of ten: Veterinarian's, staff, friendliness, appearance, prices & cleanliness of facility. Keep up the excellent work. Glad we found you!

Regrettably, my dog faces persistent anxiety during vet visits, even with prescribed medications and a muzzle in place. Despite the considerable expense, it's disheartening that the vet encounters difficulties proceeding with necessary exams. In my six years working at a different veterinary practice, exams were consistently conducted with care, even when animals displayed apprehension. I'm disappointed by the current situation and hopeful for a more empathetic and effective approach to alleviate my dog's anxiety while ensuring proper care. Also we were 2 minutes late for our appointment and received a call as we were pulling in saying we would be charged a late fee if we were 10 minutes late. I said okay. Meanwhile they didn’t see us until 40 minutes after our appointment time. So we were charged over $200 for an exam room with no exam and a bordetella vaccine that I had to give. We questioned bringing our dogs back to this veterinarian because our previous dog had a dental here and they extracted all her teeth and she passed away less then a week later. I feel it had a lot to do with a dental being done at her age. I don’t think it was appropriate for the veterinarians to recommend a dental with full extractions at her age and when it was brought up to them when I had to bring her in a few days later because of continues seizure, which she never had prior to the dental and extractions I was pretty much laughed at and had a ton of eye rolls at me.

We were slammed with a late fee with no warning while on our way which doesn’t encourage safe driving on the road. I was going to bring my parents to this vet who just moved down. I will not refer them now. They lost business. No issues with the vet, who was wonderful but the front desk was extremely ungracious for our second visit that was made last minute because our dog was sick… and then given a late fee. poor customer service. I even ask if it could be rescinded and the manager never reached out. Disappointing. Taking advantage of someone’s acute critical situation.

We are new to San Antonio, but are lifetime pet owners and finding a new veterinary practice can be challenging. The San Antonio Animal Hospital team are absolutely wonderful!!! We will recommend them 100% because their care and compassion is evident in the way they interact with the animals and pet parents too. We felt like their approach was the perfect balance of thoughtful, practical and professional.

I absolutely love San Antonio Animal Hospital. I love that when you walk in there is no chaos like most vets office. The front desk staff and the vet techs are awesome. Dr. Mattox is great. She takes time to answer your questions and explain what's going on. I am so glad I found this practice and I would not take my furry children any where else! Below is one happy dog. We adopted her very recently and the previous family did not have the money to care for her teeth. She had the the worst bad breath. You could smell her a mile away. Dr. Mattox cleaned her teeth and she had to remove 14 teeth. We now have one happy healthy girl!
